HEAVY BRASS & METAL CHESS SET W/LEATHER & WOOD STORAGE BOARD MADE IN ITALY

Description

The chess men for this unique chess set are solid steel and solid brass in the classic Staunton style.  The Night has a very unique flat back, which I have been unable to find another similar piece.  The Chessmen storage area is lined with a dark forest green felt and divided for each piece.  The top of the board is leather, and does show some wear (as shown in pictures).  The wood board has a bottom foot missing but does not affect the stability of the board.  The bottom of the board is stamped "Made in Italy" in gold.
I am not quite sure of the age of this set, but it definitely has been well loved.  The brass pieces and metal pieces have dulled but are a nice impressive weight and feel to it when handled.  Some have a bottom protective cover still attached, others are completely missing (as shown in pictures).
The board itself measures 11 3/4" by 11 3/4" and the removable chess board measures 10 1/2" by 10 1/2".  The Kings in this set measure 2 3/4" Tall.
